Cataracts
When functioning normally the lens should be clear to allow light through and focus on the retina. A cataract is caused in the eye when the lens becomes clouded. The exact cause of cataracts is currently unknown.
The most common type of cataract is age-related.
Many people over 60 have some form of cataract.
Cataracts can normally be treated successfully.

Cataracts can cause blurry sight, sensitivity to bright light and change of colour vision. A person with cataracts may benefit from large print.
