Training courses & materials

In this section you can see sample programmes and download materials that you are free to use and adapt for your own staff training programmes. Please use the Forum to add any materials from your own experience that you are willing to share with others (please indicate if any of the material is copyright or requires acknowledgement).

30 minute briefings

All library services find it difficult to find the time for staff training. Short sessions are a practical way to reach a larger number of staff and can often be delivered on site before the library opens. 30 minute briefings can be targeted at a specific theme, for example Helping parents of blind and partially sighted children.

RNIB courses

The RNIB run a wide range of training courses from general awareness to more detailed events targeted at specific groups e.g. teachers, web designers, architects. The current list of RNIB events includes details of courses available now arranged by region.  You can also contact RNIB if you have a specific training need.

Tell us about your training and your training needs

Please use the Forum to tell us of training courses you are running and, if possible, share the resources with colleagues through this site.

We would also like to know if your service has training needs that you are not able to meet at the moment.
